Alcohol and Drug Prevention Workshops
Alcohol abuse is prevalent within the Ethiopian-Israeli
community, and the challenges many youth face,
including the gap between parent and child, difficulties
in school and a feeling of isolation spur them on to
use alcohol and drugs as a means for escape.
In partnership with a variety of ministries (Welfare,
Education and Immigration) and agencies, and together with the highly experienced Efshar organization, ENP has launched a nation-wide series of workshops to prevent alcohol and drug abuse.
The program is comprised of 25 workshops: 15 for
youth, 7 for parents (which commence after the youths’ ninth meeting) and 3 parent-youth
workshops. Facilitators include two professionals, one an expert in substance abuse, and
the second a facilitator from the Ethiopian-Israeli community. Facilitators receive professional
accompaniment and participate in three intense training days.
Opportunities for Assistance: Reversing a Disastrous Trend
Your assistance will help bring Ethiopian-Israeli youth in extreme risk back from the fringes of
Israeli society.
• $18,000 will fund one drug and alcohol abuse prevention workshops, including sessions for parents and their teenage children.
• $180,000 will fund ten workshops.
