Compassion in the Face of Tragedy

ENP is proud of the entire team of people who work at the Mark Youth Outreach Center. Critical to the success of the entire enterprise is the dedication and caring that each person associated with the Center brings to his or her efforts. When the team sees the fruits of its labor, it brings professional gratification and the motivation to continue working harder towards the goals of the Center.

Such was the case with a 12th grader named Yaniv (whose name has been changed to protect his privacy). A few months ago, Yaniv’s mother passed away after a protracted battle with a serious illness. In response to Yaniv’s own deep pain, the students of the Center worked hard to comfort him, attending the funeral and the shiva and volunteering to help at Yaniv’s home.

It brought the entire Center staff great pride to see that these students are on their way to becoming real ‘mensches’, thinking beyond their own issues and responding with compassion to the needs of others.
