Why did you choose to volunteer with ENP?
I knew that many Ethiopian refugees in Israel are having trouble integrating into society and wanted to help make a change. I love working with children and have had experience as a summer camp counselor, so volunteering at ENP seemed like a great way for me to use my skills to help others.
What do you hope to achieve through your experience with ENP?
I hope to help develop the media sections of the website and make the organization more known, especially in Arizona. I can't wait to tutor children and make a difference.
What do you do for ENP?
I will be writing articles for the Jewish News of Greater Phoenix to share my experiences. For half of my time here I will be volunteering with children and tutoring and the rest of the time I will be working in the offices by putting together videos and using other forms of media.
What do you like to do when you are not volunteering?
I enjoy swimming for my schools swim team and going on runs. I spend most of my free time with my family, dog, and friends from NFTY and summer camp. I also love to draw, use Photoshop, and edit and take pictures for my school's year book.
What is your favorite food in Israel?
My favorite food is falafel!
What do you love about Israel?
I love that it is the homeland of the Jewish people. My cousins live here and when they're home from the army during Shabbat I love to spend time with them. I toured Israel with my Jewish summer camp and had an incredible experience and learned a lot about the country. I cannot pin point one specific thing about Israel that I love the most, but it is a beautiful country with so many things to do and I know I will continue to visit often in the future.
