About Semai:
Semai was born in Ethiopia, and his family immigrated to Israel in 2002 when he was four. Semai doesn’t remember much from his journey, but he emphasizes the strong sense of purpose his family felt in coming to Israel. Semai is “Prince of the school,” according to Askelon SPACE Coordinator Worke, for his teachers adore him. Despite this, Semai would keep to himself in his large school classes. After joining the SPACE Program, the smaller classes made Semai feel more comfortable opening up.
Future Plans:
After the army, Semai dreams of continuing his studies and eventually opening up his own car repair business. Being a part of SPACE not only helped Semai expand his comfort zone, but it also gave him the tools to believe in himself and dream big.
