ENP Hosts #StopTheSirens Campaign Mission: Jewish Federation of Northern New Jersey Shows its Solidarity with ENP Participant Families in Sderot

On Tuesday August 12th, ENP was proud to host a dozen-strong solidarity mission from the Jewish Federation of Northern New Jersey.  The group was welcomed into the homes of two Ethiopian-Israeli families, where they experienced a traditional Ethiopian coffee ceremony, shared stories and expressed their support during this time of need. The New Jersey delegation brought gifts and encouraging words to the families on behalf of their community. They came to understand the harrowing experience of living through over 14 years of rocket fire from Gaza, as they heard about the kids who use the ENP Youth Outreach Center in the city and the stories of those who’ve turned their young lives from one of police records to one of a fulfilling army service, college, and career.  Asher Meshashe, the outgoing Sderot Youth Center Director, recounted his five years at the center, and ENP’s success in creating a strong pocket of change within the city’s Ethiopian-Israeli community.

ENP and the Ethiopian-Israeli community of Sderot expresses its deep appreciation both to the Jewish Federation of Northern New Jersey for reaching out to the community during this time of conflict, and to the Jewish Federation of Greater Vancouver, which is a steadfast supporter of ENP and funds ENP’s Youth Outreach Center,  Afikei Or, in Sderot.
