ENP Pre-Atidim High-Achievers Visit to Intel

January 27, 2013

The ENP Pre-Atidim participants from various schools in Beer Sheva were taken on a field trip to tour the Kiryat-Gat Intel Production Plant on January 23rd, 2013.  Intel is the world's largest and highest valued semiconductor chip maker, where the majority of the R&D and production takes place in Israel.

The Kiryat-Gat Intel Production plant employs 3,750 workers, majority being engineers and technicians. The plant is a frontrunner in efficient production, placing the plant at the forefront of Intel’s manufacturing worldwide.

The ENP Pre-Atidim students had the opportunity to hear a lecture about the production process of the processors being made and the workflow inside the plant. Following, they had a tour to the “clean rooms,” where they observed from the large glass windows the engineers working and dressed up in sterile suits to prevent processor damage from dust contamination.

Lidor, an ENP Pre-Atidim participant stated: “I really enjoyed the tour, we learned so many new things about technology, and I was exposed to things that I have never seen before. I really hope to be part of this plant in the future, and be part of the production team.  I was very impressed with their daily processor production and the Plant’s profit”

“The trip was a lot of fun,” included another participant, “I was very impressed with the company’s products and the way the engineers work. It really intrigued me and makes me want to become an engineer myself, and perhaps have the opportunity to work there in the future”.

The purpose of the visit was to expose the Pre-Atidim participants to elite positions within one of Israel's biggest high-tech companies. ENP has hopes that the program's excelling students will also hold a prestigious position within Intel.
