ENP is On Campus!

April 29, 2021

As part of ENP's constant quest to innovate and share the story of the Ethiopian-Israeli community with new audiences, it has recently forged a partnership with Hillel JUC at Carnegie Mellon University and University of Pittsburgh aimed at inspiring students to get involved on behalf of the Ethiopian-Israeli community and ENP.

Two online events have been held over the past two months which enabled Hillel members to learn about Ethiopian Jewry, the Ethiopian-Israeli community and ENP. In March, ENP Director-General Roni Akale shared his personal Aliyah story with Hillel students, while in April students met present and past Ethiopian-Israeli recipients of ENP medical and dental scholarships.

The goal of this collaboration is to help educate and encourage Pittsburgh Hillel students to engage with the Ethiopian-Israeli experience and as a consequence help ENP carry out its critical work through campus fundraising activities.

ENP is planning to hold further virtual or in-person missions to meet the beneficiaries of ENP’s myriad programs and the inspirational staff who carry out the critical work. It is also offering internship opportunities for qualified Hillel members. In fact, the Director of Jewish Life at the University of Pittsburg Kari Semel is a former ENP intern, who contributed her skills towards advancing ENP's mission in 2012.

ENP aims to expand this project to other campuses and inspire additional Hillel members to get involved. If you are interested in getting your Hillel connected with ENP, contact us here.
