ENP's feature in one of Israel's biggest financial newspapers, Calcalist

April 22, 2013

A recent article in the Calcalist newspaper examined the representation of the Ethiopian-Israeli community in the academic and employment realm.  The data presents a low representation of Ethiopians in contrast to the rest of the general population in both markets. One reason suggests that Ethiopian-Israeli students often major in social sciences and humanities, which are considered less financially rewarding. Another reason is their difficult integration into the labor market upon graduation. This article proposes that Ethiopian-Israelis are in need of a comprehensive and holistic program that targets children at a young age, in order to narrow the gap between Ethiopian-Israeli undergraduates and their peers in the general population. As the primary organization that fills this need, ENP’s programs were described in the article.

ENP’s Chairman, Mr. Raviv Zoller, and Director General, Mr. Roni Akale, shed light on the positive scholastic trends of the students participating in the Scholastic Assistance Program, and their academic matriculation, which opens doors to professional academia.  It also addresses the urgent need to expose Ethiopian-Israeli children to ENP programs at a younger age, from the age of 11, and before their transition to junior high school.
