Bat El's Story

Youth in School
City: Kiryat Bialik
At the age of 13, Bat El carries herself with astonishing maturity and a strong sense of self. Bat El is close with her family, who made Aliyah 20 years ago before Bat El was born, and she loves to watch Disney movies with her parents and 4 siblings in her free time. When Bat El joined ENP's SPACE Program in the 8th grade, she hoped to secure a new academic beginning for herself by taking full advantage of all the help SPACE could offer her. Being in SPACE made dramatic improvements to Bat El's grades, helping her to increase a 60 to a 90. According to her SPACE Coordinator, Bat El is a gifted student who is hungry for knowledge and avidly seeks out new information, especially in English, math, and science. By ensuring that Bat El remains successful in school, SPACE fuels and sustains Bat El's love of learning. Bat El loves the connections that she has developed with the SPACE staff, and her favorite aspect of SPACE is the fact that her SPACE teachers forge a positive atmosphere in the classroom that both helps her to learn and endows her with confidence.

Despite her youth, Bat El possesses a clarity of purpose that many college students would envy: she knows that she is going to become a pilot in the Israeli air force and then an astronomer. What draws Bat El the most to outer space is the air of mystery that shrouds it, and the fact that it contains so much that is yet to be discovered. Fittingly, ENP's SPACE Program has done much to enable Bat El to achieve her dreams of studying outer space by improving her grades and endowing her with the self-confidence to reach for the stars.
