What do you like to do when your are not volunteering?
Spend time at the beach, play basketball and all things art! Oh - and definitely travel!!
What is your favorite part of volunteering with ENP?
I love that I can see the direct impact that I am making on people’s lives for the better, and that I can play an important role in facilitating the comfortable integration for young Ethiopians into Israeli society. I am passionate about teaching and increasing awareness about the Ethiopian-Israeli community, and encouraging others to jump on board and volunteer as well. Finally, I love the people I work with! Having a positive and supportive working culture makes all the difference :)
:
My goal is two-fold: One, to facilitate an acute understanding of the Ethiopian-Israeli’s community and history. As Jews, who are ‘’k’ish b’lev echad’ (‘like one man with one heart’), it is utterly incumbent upon us that we avoid bigotry, and increase community appreciation and celebration. Secondly, education calls for action. By highlighting the issue to others, people are better informed to donate, teach, volunteer and create better policies that are non-discriminatory.
What is your favorite food in Israel?
The ice cream and frozen yoghurt - so good!! (shoutout to Golda Ice Cream - I have legitimately never tasted anything better). Second place would have to be felafel and sabich… 7 shek from the shuk…run don’t walk!
If you could have a superpower, what would it be and why?
I reckon it would be to teleport! Because I have have this issue - where I’m absolutely obsessed with traveling (it gives me so much joy and life)…but then I am completely inept at it and am almost always missing a flight/taking a disastrously wrong turn/forgetting to pack something important… I’d say teleportation would solve all my problems!!
