Why did you choose to volunteer with ENP?
When I was in year 12 at school, my final Hebrew project was about the immigration of Ethiopian Jews to Israel. Learning about the journey to get to Israel and the challenges of being in a new country with a completely different way of life fascinated me, but more importantly I am amazed by the work ENP does to help recognise challenges that may arise living in a new country. As a result, I chose to work at ENP because I wanted to learn from and be a part of their amazing organisation.
What do you like to do when you are not volunteering?
I love exploring Israel, finding the hidden gems, like the food and the thrift stores, as well as meeting the locals. I’m still on a quest to find good coffee (Melbourne has spoiled me)
What do you love about Israel?
Everything. But if I could only pick one thing, it would probably be the feeling of home I have when I’m here and the diverse range of people that makes Israel so exciting.
If you were stranded on a deserted island, what three things would you bring along?
Water, a lighter and my best friend because if I’m not doing this alone.
Who do you admire the most and why?
I know it’s a cliche answer, but I most admire my mum and if you met her, you would too. She is the most dedicated, kindest, smartest woman I have ever had the privilege of knowing and she just happens to be a pretty cool mum too. I have the utmost respect for her values, sense of self and empathy for others and I am in awe of the change she has been able to inspire in students throughout her teaching career
