Volunteers

“The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and… bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t necessarily spoil the good things or make them unimportant.” - Doctor Who

Why did you choose to volunteer with ENP?
I was very interested in what they do and how they help people and I want to be a part of it. I think it will be a great way to give back to the community while also gaining crucial knowledge and experience for myself.
What do you like to do when you are not volunteering?
Whenever I’m not volunteering, I’m exploring Israel. I’ve been enjoying going on hikes and walking around the city. I love trying new foods and find myself often going to the Shuk. The more interesting the better!
What is your favorite food in Israel?
I know that this is not a food but my favorite thing in Israel is the ice coffee. I’m not usually a coffee person but when I’m in Israel, I am. It’s so sweet and I love the consistency of it. I knew it was the first thing I had to get when I got here.
What do you love about Israel?
One thing I love about Israel is how old the land is. The idea that people have been walking around Jerusalem for thousands of years fascinates me. The United States is not that old, especially where I’m from in Texas. Seeing all the old and ancient buildings, hearing the history, and being here where so much has happened is an amazing feeling.
Who do you admire the most and why?
The person that I admire and look up to the most is my Grandma. Ever since I was a little kid I’ve always said that when I grow up I want to be just like my Grandma. She is the most positive, caring and loving person I know. She gives so much time back to the community and volunteers at our temple all the time. She’s the one that is always there for her family and friends, whether that means physically taking care of them or just being there for them to talk to.
