Aviva & Shlomit's Story

Youth in School
City: Ashdod

“There should be more and more students in the SPACE program so that more and more students can succeed, because without success there is no future and these children are our future. They are the future of our country.”

Aviva works as an assistant at Herzfeld hospital. She met her husband through a matchmaker and was married shortly after making Aliyah in 1998. While raising her children, she studied at a local college to recieve a matriculation certificate and later studied electronics. Since she was unable to finish school and have the life she wanted, Aviva is very passionate about her children fulfilling their dreams through education. She is grateful that the SPACE program has given her daughter, Shlomit, the tools to succeed. She is very proud of Shlomit’s hard work and dedication and hopes the rest of her children will follow her example. Aviva inspires Shlomit to strive for success no matter the challenges he faces since her mother was able to study and work while raising four children. Shlomit’s parents are very happy about her success in the SPACE program. Shlomit will soon participate in Mechina, a preparatory year for the Atudah program, where she will study at university before entering the army. Shlomit believes that “if [teenagers] join SPACE, every dream they have, they will be able to fulfill it” and encourages other students like her to dream big. The SPACE program is extremely important to Aviva because it provides to her children what she and her husband cannot. She hopes that her children and all children in her community have the support necessary to achieve success.
