Fantanesh was born in Ethiopia and her family made Aliyah in 2003 when she was three years old. She is the youngest of six siblings. She feels that life is better in Israel; she has more opportunities and is better respected. Both her parents are custodians. They are not equipped to help her with her studies, so SPACE is very important for Fantanesh. She has been in the SPACE program since she was in 9th grade. She used to have failing grades and now she is getting 80s on her tests. She likes the unique teaching style in SPACE that involves social activities and games-it makes learning fun for her. She says without SPACE, she wouldn’t have the motivation to continue. In her free time, Fantanesh loves to travel and shop. Her dream is to attend university and eventually be a midwife.
