Hodaya: Using Her Words

Youth in School
City: Carmiel

“If someone offers you help, take it. It’s always good!”

The oldest of four children, Hodaya was born in Israel after her parents made Aliyah from Ethiopia. Her parents had very different journeys—her father taking the relatively easy route through Italy, and her mother making a more difficult journey through Sudan.

Hodaya and her brother have been part of ENP’s SPACE program since representatives visited her school, and it has made a huge difference to her grades and confidence.

Before the program, she had been struggling to keep up and get the attention she needed from her teachers.

But now, with smaller class sizes and the opportunity to grow and ask questions, her English grades have gone from 80 to 100.

English is now Hodaya’s favorite subject, and she credits the SPACE program for helping her turn things around.

She wants to encourage others to try the program, as not only is it incredibly helpful, it’s fun! During her time with SPACE, Hodaya has met lots of new people and gone on some exciting trips.
