Ido*, an 11th grade student at the Shalon school and a participant in ENP's SPACE Program has had a difficult time this year dealing with some personal issues. His attendance at the regular classes in school is inconsistent and due to his poor grades the school was not planning on entering him for the English matriculation exam.  However, his English teacher from the SPACE Program spotted his potential and wanted to give him a chance to do the exam. Accompanied by his teacher, Ido met with the school administration and persuaded them that he would put in the maximum effort during the rest of the year, if they would enter him for the exam.  

Ido’s behavior did indeed change and he began to focus more his studies. The realization that the SPACE counselor believed in him and was not willing to give up on him gave his self-confidence a huge boost and encouraged him to persevere. Ido did in fact take the matriculation exam and although he is still awaiting the results, he is proud to say that he was able to answer every question on the paper!
