Kalkidan: Feeling Cared For

Youth in School
City: Beit Shemesh

"The part about SPACE that I find the most helpful is all of the personalized attention."

Meet Kalkidan, 14 years old and from Beit Shemesh. Kalkidan made Aliyah from Ethiopia with her family when she was only 1 year old.

Since then, her parents have separated, and it has been hard for Kalkidan’s mother to give her the extra help she needs with her studies.

After an ENP representative visited Kalkidan’s school, she decided to take part in the SPACE program, to give her some personalized help and extra attention from teachers.

Since starting the program, Kalkidan’s grades have gone from 40-60 up into the high 70s—especially in math and sports.

Kalkidan’s dream is to pursue a career in management, and one day visit Ethiopia to learn more about her origins.

A proud Israeli, Kalkidan feels she has found a place where people genuinely help and care about others, and looks forward to being able to give back to the community.
