Orel, whose younger brother is also a SPACE participant, is 17 from Tirat Carmel. Although neither of Orel’s parents work, they are often unable to help him with his homework, leaving him without the additional academic support that he needs. Since joining SPACE, Orel has been awarded a certificate of excellence from his school as a result of his outstanding grades and has become a trusted leader and role model by his SPACE coordinator. Other than the food, which Orel jokes is his favorite part of SPACE, he loves the new friends he has made and the regular excursions that they take together. He especially enjoyed playing paintball with his SPACE friends on a recent excursion! He now urges his younger peers to join the program so that they too can experience the academic and personal growth that has been so important for Orel.
