Shenhav's Story-Ashdod

Youth in School
City: Ashdod

"I was failing math, but now i receive 70s."

Shenhav is in the 10th grade and is 15 years old. While her parents made Aliyah in 1984 as part of Operation Moses, Shenhav and her two sisters were born in Israel. Shenhav’s mother regularly talks to her about her parents’ difficult path from Ethiopia to Israel through Sudan. Though Shenhav’s parents studied in Ethiopia until the 10th grade and were able to provide some scholastic support, Shenhav was still struggling in school. She was failing math at one point, but after participating in SPACE, she now regularly receives 70s in the subject - an impressive improvement for her. Shenhav now encourages other students to join the program, especially those who do not have access to sufficient academic support at home. Shenhav now has aspirations of studying criminology at university. She loves to be with her friends and hopes to visit South Africa one day.
