Tashuma: Going for Gold

Youth in School
City: Beit Shemesh

"Teachers are committed to helping me with homework and exercises."

Meet Tashuma, 19 from Beit Shemesh. He, along with his parents and four brothers, made Aliyah from Ethiopia when he was only 4 years old.

Prior to entering ENP's SPACE program, Tashuma and his brothers had been struggling in school and their parents’ limited Hebrew skills meant that they did not have access to any additional support.

Since entering SPACE, Tashuma and his younger brother have already made fantastic progress in their studies, particularly in math, where Tashuma went from 3 to 4 units in one year.

SPACE offers small reinforcement classes, allowing each student to receive specialized, individual support, as well as a tight-knit, supportive, and safe group of friends.

Tashuma particularly enjoyed SPACE’s trip to the Court of Justice, which helped him gain a greater understanding of what it means to be an Israeli citizen.

Tashuma is a keen soccer player, and one day dreams of becoming a professional runner.
