Zahava's Story

Youth in School
City: Ashdod

“Zahava is in tenth grade, but she’s an adult,” says Zahava’s SPACE coordinator, Orit, adding that 16-year-old Zahava is a bright, motivated student who is a pleasure for the teachers to work with. Zahava finds SPACE extremely helpful in clarifying information she doesn’t understand in class, particularly when it comes to math and English, and she loves the personalized, one-on-one help she gets from her SPACE teacher. SPACE has helped Zahava become a more serious student, and the trip that she took to Tel Aviv University through SPACE opened a lot of doors for her and inspired her, such that she has even begun taking university courses this summer. Zahava would like to join a combat unit in the army, and then go on to study to become a pediatrician so that she can work with children, which is something she has always loved. Orit describes Zahava as “excellent,” and has no doubt that Zahava will succeed in attaining these goals.
