Adi's Story

Youth in School
City: Carmiel

"I am honestly more confident in myself, I trust myself more, and I am more willing to speak up because of SPACE."

Adi’s parents made Aliyah separately-her father during Operation Moses in the early 1980s and her mother through Operation Solomon in 1991. Adi and her four siblings were born in Israel. Adi has participated in ENP’s SPACE program in Karmiel since it began when she was in 8th grade. Her older sister was also in SPACE and is now currently studying at Hebrew University in a special preparatory program before going into the army. When the SPACE coordinator spoke to Adi about joining SPACE, she saw an opportunity to improve her grades and succeed in school. Adi speaks about how SPACE helped her specifically in the subjects that she was struggling in, and today she is in the 5-points classes in English, math, and physics. SPACE helped Adi believe in herself and her ability to succeed. Outside of school, Adi has a part-time job to help her family financially, and she also volunteers at Magen David Adom and Acharai-a preparatory youth group program for the army. Adi’s dream is to be a paramedic in the army and then become a pediatric surgeon.
