Aviva's Story-Yokneam

Youth in School
City: Yokneam
Aviva, born in Israel, has grown up hearing stories of Ethiopia. Her family came to Israel in 1987, but when she was 7 years old she had the opportunity to visit Ethiopia. Despite, or perhaps because of, Aviva’s deep connection to her heritage, she is a proud Israeli and mentions that she loves the atmosphere of the country. Like mostother students her age, Aviva does not yet know what she wants to study in university, but she has big aspirations. She wants to one day get a Bachelor’s Degree and a Master’s Degree and to be successful in whichever job she chooses. Aviva describes herself as responsible and puts a large emphasis on her school work, but before she joined ENP’s SPACE program, she was struggling with a large project on which her graduation was contingent. She had been receiving grades in the 70s, but SPACE helped her to improve to the 90s. Aviva loves the SPACE program because her future is so important to her. The program allows her to become good at her studies and really invest in them because of the extra homework she receives.
